Hrid Basti is a classical Āyurvedic treatment in which warm medicated oil is pooled directly over the heart center — held in a dough dam placed at the sternum, replenished again and again until the tissue softens, the breath drops, and something long-braced begins to release.
This is not a gentle treatment dressed in soft language. It is precise, unhurried clinical work rooted in the understanding that the hṛdaya — the heart — is both a physical organ and the seat of prāṇa, memory, and consciousness. When we tend it directly, we are working at the intersection of structure and soul.
What to expect.
Your 50-minute session begins with warm oil applied across the chest, sternum, and upper back — opening the chest cavity and preparing the tissue to receive. The dough dam is placed and filled with medicated oil, held at therapeutic temperature while you rest in stillness. Sessions close with supported śavāsana and a warm compress over the heart.
Who this is for.
Grief. Fatigue that lives in the chest. The particular exhaustion of a full year. Vāta or pitta presentations involving the heart — palpitations, tightness, emotional volatility, a feeling of being unmoored. Those moving through loss, transition, or the accumulated weight of caregiving.
