You have had the massage…
It helped for two days. The knot between your shoulder blades came back, the ridge across the tops of your shoulders never actually went down, and the headaches still start at the base of your skull and land behind one eye. At some point you decided this was just how your body is.
The reason ordinary bodywork keeps failing that tissue is that it moves across the site rather than into it. Grīvā basti does something a pair of hands cannot: a ring of dough is sealed onto the skin at the base of your neck and filled with warm medicated oil, which stays there for thirty uninterrupted minutes and is topped up as it cools. Sustained heat and medicated oil, held on one place, for longer than any massage stroke can deliver.
Then the oil comes off and the work becomes precise — marma (acupuncture) points through the shoulder girdle, along the side of the neck, and at the base of the skull, finishing with traction at the occiput. Ninety minutes. Five appointments only; the setup does not allow for a sixth. This is the treatment people in the series rebook first.
